Ethics and Legality of Teachers Pay Teachers

The site, Teachers Pay Teachers, appears to observe the ethical standards and legality of copyright law. At first glance, I was skeptical of the site due to it claiming to be an online marketplace the enables teachers to purchase and sell original downloadable educational materials. However, upon further exploration of the “About us” page, I learned that users express themselves originally in their products and never use media they aren’t sure they have the right to use. The site also provides an extensive explanation of the copyright policy it has adopted in accordance with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act and other applicable laws. Teachers Pay Teachers blocks access to or removes materials that are believed to be infringing upon a copyrighted work. The site has designated an agent to handle copyright infringement claims and provides the agent’s contact information as well as an outline of copyright policy. In concluding my evaluation, I ran the site URL through the Whois.com Lookup. The results generated by my lookup seem to only further support the authenticity of this site. These results can be viewed below.
